Minutes of Tulsa Glue Dobbers Meeting February27, 2018
The February meeting was called to order at 7:00pm with eighteen members present.
The January minutes were read and approved. A visitor named Brian Fisher was introduced as a friend and neighbor of Tim Schmidt. Brian builds and flies full scale aircraft and is starting in the RC hobby as well.
Treasurer David Whisnant reported that our current bank balance stands at $13,743. President Pennell then reported that our first batch of club shirts has arrived and is being distributed. Meanwhile a second order is in the works. Additional announcements were updates on the illness of Jerald Summers, and a report that two new pairs of big plane start up poles have been installed so that big planes can be safely started at the north end, the flag pole, and the south end. This inspired a discussion of repair and replacement of the portable start up tables used for smaller planes. The officers will work on that issue this spring.
Tim Schmidt suggested that we consider building a sidewalk from the middle shelter to the flight line for use on muddy days. That idea was tabled for later. Someone questioned the progress on replacing the spectator barrier fence and the “Pilots Only” signs.
Roy and Judy Minut are planning on our attendance with a static display at this years Makers Fair. We will have a larger display area this year and need more smaller planes to inspire kids to enter the hobby.
In discussion of our annual fly ins, we learned that the sanction for our Warbirds event has been set for September 14-15, and the date for the Fly Foam or Go Home event has been set for October 20. The grand prize giveaway sponsored by Horizon will be a DX9 radio.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15.
