Minutes of Tulsa Glue Dobbers Meeting January 23, 2018
The January meeting was called to order by President Mike Pennell at 7:05 pm with thirty two members present. A new member, Tom Vintaloro was introduced. Tom is a long time RC builder and flyer from the Tulsa area.
Treasurer, David Whisnant, reported that the current treasury is at $9154 not counting many new membership dues that have been submitted.
In old business, Mike reported that he and Bob Passmore have not had a chance to take measurements of our electrical needs at the field. They plan to determine if we have enough service amperage to allow additional lines to the north end of the pit area. New Business:
Charlie Horne, who is in charge of stocking the club house with drinks and snacks, mentioned that sales seem slower than usual. Members present agreed ,however, that we want Charlie to continue offering the refreshments, and we forwarded him $100 to keep purchasing supplies. Members should note that there is a charge for each item and a payment box on the wall next to the refrigerator.
We discussed and set some tentative dates for next seasons flying events. The WarBird fly in is proposed for September 14-15, The Fun Fly for June 23, and The Fly Foam or Go Home will be in early October as determined by Dennis Michaels.
The 2017 annual club award plaques were handed out as follows: ~ Rookie Of The Year to Larry Wallace
~ Craftsmanship to Ed Gross for his Fokker DR1 Triplane Jerald ~ Summers Service Award to Mike Pennell
President Pennell next announced the option to purchase TGD collared polo shirts from Cindy Seals. They are embroidered with the club logo and pilot member name. Contact him for ordering information.
We auctioned off two airplanes that were donated by Michel Linihan from his uncle’s estate. An Avistar Trainer went for $10 and a Giant Scale Pitts went for $500. All proceeds went to the Glue Dobbers treasury.
Finally, Ed Gross did a Show and Tell about some special plans that he obtained for a future project, and Claude Christ showed us his new Bud Nosen Giant Stik that he has built and finished out in Eindecker fabric and markings.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30.
